If you find yourself frequently visiting the museum, you may navigate directly to areas you most enjoy by going directly to the Blog from the header of the site or scrolling down to find your favorite portfolio or discover a new one.
Overview of the Blog
This blog is as much a part of the museum as are the portfolios and exhibits. That might sound strange…and even antithetical to the theme of a museum of photography…that words should be of equal import! And while it may be true that strong visual work should be capable of standing on its own without explanation, the art of curating multiple bodies of work that are intentionally in accord with and at times dissonant with each other, and who function by virtue of immediacy and subtlety…part of the joy of hosting such a breadth of work is in the narrative curation of the themes and philosophies that correspond and interweave with each other under the visual surfaces of the images.
To that end, expect to find essays on the philosophy of photography in the blog (many of which will coalesce into a larger body of essays as part of a book entitled I, Camera by the museum’s founder and creative director) as well as navigational posts (such as this one) to guide you to new content and interviews and product evangelism (when photographers enjoy a piece of equipment, they often want to sing it from the rooftops!) and guest articles and more!
Ways to Engage
Please visit frequently! There is a lot to see and more to come! Interviews! Contests! Content that is designed for Educators related to various themes ranging from psychology to civics, each with a way to apply visual contribution to the overall experience of learning. The learning objectives can easily be aligned with integrated language skills and dedicated writing classes of all levels. Or sign up for a newsletter! If you really enjoy visiting frequently, consider becoming a member!
Please enjoy your experience! If images are more provocative or thoughtful than entertaining, the hope is that all experiences are meaningful, stimulating, and community building—you wouldn’t be here if you weren’t a creative…or at least curious…and as such, we are all part of a quantum tribe that is entangled by virtue of a shared energy we feel when engaging with strong creative work.
