To evolve, any field of endeavor must be interrupted, and photography is no exception…Uta Barth and William Eggleston being two such brilliant disruptors…and whilst some visual etudes in this portfolio may unintentionally evoke these great photographers, the body of work is neither derivative nor chimeric…Referendum is a permanent portfolio showcasing the work of an individual artist underwritten by ethos of adjacency, poetics, pavimentum, loneliness, flaneurial delight, phenomenology, the apparitional, and all other asymptotes of abnormalcy in the realm of light…
Experimental to the core…visual heir to Douglas Hofstadter…a nod in the direction of Pablo Picasso and his fractural practice—Hyper-Cubism is also a permanent portfolio of an individual artist that exploits the visual algorithm of internal repopulation ad infinitum until recognizability dissolves into triangular planes or low-nap carpet-like tableaus…no special glasses required to meld with these mind-bending melanges
Imagine all the me…the moi..the je…the egoism and the narcissism…and you would be off course in your appraisal of this permanent portfolio by an individual artist…Sui Imaginem reimagines selfies in an era of glamour-gluttony…not by counter-pivoting to Guillaume Grotesque, but in a painstaking longitudinal portrait of aging, itself: the defiance, humor, acceptance, and participation we might summon for the journey…often faceless but never evasive, the images say more the less they show…the work is, as Borges might have said, textual in that it offers the innumerable relationships an artist has with the axis of time
